It’s been a busy week of blog posts so today I’ll share some random updates and some other new finds I thought were interesting. Today is casual and light, enjoy 🙂
The boys: Yesterday the boys started school and it went really great for the most part. I had Clint do drop-off because I thought it could be a little rougher with me since they’ve been home with me all summer. The teachers’ reports were that Shep cried a few times and asked for mommy (awwww) but that he loved playing with his friends. Beau was the life of the party and slept on a cot for the first time (but only for 45 minutes!) Buddy was exhausted when he got home and went to bed around 7. All around it was a great day and they sent me pictures all day long. They looked like they were having a blast and they sure did a lot more activities than I ever do at home. One cool thing about their school is they learn Mandarin, so Shep brought home a worksheet with all the colors in Mandarin. I learned a thing or two! (also, ignore the funny parent faces in the reflection of the door! Ha).Dinner idea: Here’s another great Paleo recipe we tried (but yes, I did add some mozzarella on top. I can’t help myself). We’re not trying to be Paleo, but I am trying to decrease how many majorly carb meals we are eating each week. I love this Buffalo Chicken Spaghetti Squash Casserole because it’s full of flavor and I already had most of the ingredients on hand. Working out: Every since we started prepping for Disney I’ve been a big slacker in the workout department. I’m hoping to head back to the gym this week and do my usual 3-4 miles a few times a week. I was adding spinning to working out but noticed I was getting bulkier. Does that happen to anyone else? I loved the music and energy of spinning but not feeling any bigger. I did buy my first pair of Lilly Pulitzer workout pants and I love these. I’ve gotten tons of compliments on the print and knew I’d get a lot of wear out of these rather than just getting the print in a top.
TV: Last night we watched a new Netflix Documentary called Confession Tapes. It was riveting! It’s a series about various crimes where people were forced into confessions. I highly recommend it and can’t wait to watch more this weekend. What are you watching lately?
Goldfish Swim School: This week Shep fearlessly jumped from one side to the other, swimming under the water. I’m looking forward to when he jumps to the next class and learns some new skills. I know he’s super close. I think the best part of his new found confidence at Goldfish is how much he looks forward going to lessons. He talks about it all week!
Wise Apple: I wrote about EatPakd lunches for kids last fall, and now I’m happy to share they have rebranded to be called Wise Apple. They offer the same types of healthy meal options and easy ordering online plus it gets delivered to your doorstep. If you have been on the fence about trying Wise Apple, you can try it and get $20 off your first week with the code JULIE. It’s especially awesome if you have picky eaters or any nut allergies or restrictions at your kids school. I swear it’s the only way I get fruits/veggies in these kids!
Worth a read: Anyone see this amazing new Nordstrom concept featured in Mashable? Apparently they (like many other retailers) are focusing a lot more on experience vs. the actual product to remain competitive, so you get manicures, wine and yummy food while you shop and then get your items sent right to your car! Do you think this new store type sounds great or do you like your normal shopping set-up? I say send one of these over to Columbus ASAP!
And with that, some #momtruth
Have a great weekend all! I’m so appreciative you took the time to read my random thoughts today. You’re the best.
