Dear Happy Beau,
It’s hard to believe that you’re turning one today. It seems like yesterday we found out you would make our family a family of four. From that moment, I was filled with so much joy knowing that we’d have another sweet baby to love and hold.
You’ve changed me for the better, sweet Beau. I won’t ever forget the day we thought we lost you. We rushed to the emergency room, and I was so, so sad. But from the beginning you were a beacon of hope. Despite my symptoms, you were right there on that ultrasound machine, smiling back at me and telling me everything would be OK. The doctors told us we had a 50 percent chance of meeting you, but I held on hope and held you close.
You came into this world with a little top hat because you tried so hard to get out but got stuck. When I saw your happy face, I knew you were a special baby. You looked content and happy, and from that day you’ve always had a smile on your face.
Your brother Shep met you in the hospital and fell in love from day one. He’s always been protective of you, and loves giving you kisses but also wrestling you. He saw how big you were and knew you’d be a fun play mate.
You met your GrandD when you were just a couple months old, and she loved you so much. She held you tight and never wanted to let you go. She’s smiling down on you from heaven and I know she’s so proud of the sweet little boy you are becoming.
My sweet Beau, you have the most beautiful eyes, and whenever I saw them I turned into mush. I was thankful you wanted to nurse, but we still had our struggles, too. You gained weight really quickly, but always liked to snuggle in the middle of the night until about 7 months (and I liked it too!)
Beau, you’ve taken your time crawling and standing on furniture, but you’re getting there. You are so long and big that I’m sure it can be hard to move around, you silly big boy! Now that you are a year, you are wearing this mama out, but I love watching you grow! I love watching what a happy, sweet and curious little boy you are becoming.
I’ve tried so hard to find time to give you one-on-one attention, but some days it seems so busy. Please know that I love you oh so much, and whether we’re cuddled together or shuttling your brother to activities, I am so thankful to have you with me.
Beau, I love how you love music and to dance. Your beautiful blue eyes light up when you hear a song, and you can’t help but play with instruments and move to the beat. Your joy for life is contagious.
While this year has flown by, you have brought us more joy than I ever imagined. You have the heart of gold, and I know that will serve you well. Happy Birthday to our sweet, sweet Beau!
