Confession time: I started this post the first week of November and I’m just now finishing it. I guess that’s how the holidays go these days, but it’s been tough to catch a moment to think about blog topics let alone sit down and write them. And when I finally did sit down to write, I had a hard time picking just one thing to talk about, so instead you get a little bit of this and a little bit of that in this post. I hope you enjoy my random updates, and please share yours in the comments section. If you have an Instagram account, leave your handle in the comments or follow me here, I love keeping up with everyone there!
Watching: I finally finished Stranger Things, a sci-fi type of show that my sister Laura recommended. It’s set in the 80s and just the kind of sci-fi I enjoy. It wasn’t too gross and wasn’t too scary, but had enough suspense I binge-watched during our drive to and from Memphis. I definitely recommend but now I need to pick the next show to watch, recommendations anyone?
Enjoying: Our Thanksgiving was one for the books! Clint’s brother and his wife hosted for the first time, and had a huge gathering of family. We spent the whole day eating great food and hanging out at their new home. The boys slept peacefully for over two hours in pack & plays, so it really couldn’t have been any better.
Now, I’m really getting in the holiday spirit. When you live in the Midwest, it seems like holidays are magnified. Maybe it’s because the temperatures are changing too – but the light displays are bigger, there are so many more events (I can barely keep them straight), and I find I’m even more motivated to go all out with decorations and festivities with the kiddos. I’m already looking forward to the Ohio Statehouse celebration (this week) and seeing the Wild Lights at the Columbus Zoo for the first time. What other events are must-sees in Columbus?
Reading: I’m still in the process of finishing Present Over Perfect. I’ve loved every second of reading it, just have a couple more chapters until I’m done. I also have Modern Lovers and Rich & Pretty I bought for my vacations this summer but never actually opened, so I would like to find time to read those over the holidays. Wishful thinking, huh?
Wanting: Both Clint and I told ourselves it’s time to invest in some quality winter wear. I landed on buying these Sorel boots and he got the Sperry duck boots so we’re ready to head outdoors with the boys when the first snow happens. (Pssst. Both of these are on sale now at least 20% off!)
Looking: We’ve been researching and talking about what to do for our 5 year anniversary coming up in January (where does the time go!) Clint swears he’s going to surprise me, let’s see what he has up his sleeve 🙂
Loving: Getting settled in our home. We couldn’t be happier with the location and community. New wood floors get put in the middle of this month and I’m equally excited as I am nervous about what that renovation process will be like for us during that week since we live on our first floor for about 75% of the time.
Shep is Loving: These new shoes (already in size 9!) and his Melissa & Doug Nativity Set (42% off!). We have had several Christmas lessons with his own Bible and this set over the past couple of days that he loves so much, it makes my heart melt. He wants to bring baby Jesus with him everywhere. The set is wonderful because it helps illustrate the true meaning of Christmas for little kids while also being a fantastic toy for imaginative play once story time is over.
Beau is Loving: These days, Beau is full on army crawl, so I’m having to lather him up with lotion on his little knees as much as I can. His skin has gotten more sensitive now that we are in a colder climate so I’m using the Honest Company lotion which is super hydrating and good for sensitive skin. As for anything else, what he’s really loving is laughing at his brother constantly which is about the cutest thing in the world. I will tell you what he’s not loving: SOCKS! It’s been pretty tough keeping those little piggies covered. Thank goodness for Freshly Picked mocs (he’s wearing his brother’s hand-me-downs and they are in great shape!)
