Are you one of those people who is already done with their Christmas shopping?
I’m so jealous.
I’ve started, but am no where close to being done. But I also keep telling myself when you have the only two grandchildren (as of now), they are bound to get spoiled by grandparents, aunts and uncles. They are two very lucky dudes.
Still, there is something special and magical about being a child and running down the stairs to see toys under the tree, and I AM SO FREAKING EXCITED for that morning I can’t contain myself.
Shep already runs down the stairs every morning to look at his tree and counts all the different ornaments and its the cutest thing ever. He calls the ornaments “Jingle Bells” and wants to play with them all individually.
I’ve found in researching presents for Shep it’s fairly easy. At 2 1/2, imaginative play and anything he can ride or build are pluses. Not to mention anything space or astronaut-themed he absolutely loves (which I included in this gift guide).
So, it’s taken me some more research to find the right toys to put under the tree for our little 10-month old baby. I tried to find toys that help develop his fine motor skills, sensory development and keep his attention (because let’s be honest, there’s little of that these days.) There are also a few picks that are on the sentimental side since it’s his first Christmas and I love gifts that have meaning behind them and can be enjoyed year over year.
Plus, is there anything more adorable than a baby at Christmas?
Here are my picks, hope they help you with your Christmas shopping this year.
1. Melissa & Doug Dress Up Bear
Shep got this as a gift back when he was a baby and it’s the best travel toy for little ones who love exploring zippers, pulls and textures.
2. Melissa & Doug Kids Pull-Back Vehicle Toys
Beau just received these from his Pops, and they are the perfect little first car toys. Soft, colorful and they zoom pretty fast across the floor.
3. Melissa & Doug Giddy Up & Play Pony Plush
Another great toy for sensory stimulation, this pony can be ridden, hugged, and has lots of flaps with different textures.
4. BeginAgain Toys The Farm Puzzle
I love how this can be a puzzle or a playset, and serves as a great guide for learning about farm animals.
5. Hedstrom Sensory Ring Stackerz
Here’s a new take on the classic stack toy, which has sparkles and beads inside for extra excitement.
6. Hape High Seas Boat Rocker
I know around the age of one, ride-on toys start to be really exciting. This one would be perfect to add to a nursery that’s boat-themed.
7. B Zany Zoo Wooden Activity Cube
We have had this since Shep was born, and both boys STILL play with it. It’s one of those toys that takes on a new life with each age and stage.
8. Jellycat Grey Bunny Soother
Around one is when Shep got his first little “baby” for the crib, so I want to pick out one that’s special for Beau. I love how soft these Jellycat ones are.
9. Waterford Baby’s First Christmas Ornament
Every baby needs their own ornament to put on the tree every year from their first Christmas. Waterford has some of the sweetest ones available, and they are so timeless.
10. Prince Lionheart
Another adorable option for a ride-on toy, both boys always love exploring these at the play cafes we’ve gone to lately.
11. Brio Musical Drum
What better way to get out some of that energy than playing along to their favorite song? Beau seems more interested in music than Shep was, so I’m hoping he’ll enjoy some of these instrument toys.
12. DinoTails Book
I love books that help the babies explore as you read to them. How can you resist this adorable book with all the funny looking tails? I can see both Shep and Beau loving this one.
What are some of your favorite baby toys to add to this list? Happy Shopping, friends!
