We are wrapping up our third week in Ohio, and I’m patiently waiting for fall to start. Some of the leaves are changing colors (Shep was excited but confused when he saw his first red leaf), but it’s still really hot. I’m ready to wear leggings and sweaters and even coats.
While we wait patiently for the temps to cool, I’m still going all in for fall with Harvest Spice candles, Halloween decorations (Clint said I may have pulled them out a little too early) and furry throws. I’m also continuing to be on the lookout for kid-friendly activities to keep our weekends adventurous and stimulating (aka run out that energy!) I was recently named a contributor to the Columbus Moms Blog and I’m thrilled to get to know these ladies who hopefully can point me in the right direction of places we haven’t ventured yet. Honestly, I’m a little overwhelmed (in a good way) with the amount of options here based on some of their recent posts: 5 Ways to Celebrate Fall with Young Kids, Family Friendly Fall Festivals in Columbus, Central Ohio Pumpkin Patches 2016 and Columbus U-Pick Apple Orchards.
Here are my Five on Friday (a very random mix, enjoy!)
Peapod Play Cafe: We’re newbies here in Columbus and we’re exploring lots of new activities that are friendly to both a toddler and a baby. That was something I wasn’t expecting – just because an activity is good for one definitely does not mean it’s always friendly for the other. We found the Peapod Play Cafe here in New Albany, and we all adored it. There were very soft toys (mostly green and eco-friendly) for baby Beau, and a wooden ice cream truck, kitchen set, huge train setup, and a tall fort with a slide for Shep.
They served great coffee for moi as well! Shep spent FOREVER building with Magna-Tiles while I played with baby Beau in the mirror (he couldn’t stop giggling). Two hours later, I had to drag Shep away so we made it back in time for a nap. We will definitely be back!
Mini Boden Fall Clothes: I bought Beau this shirt and leggings because I have bought him only a few things since he was born. We had WAY too many clothes from Shep but I always feel guilty Beau doesn’t have much that’s only his. So I splurged and got him these adorable little pieces. I love everything Mini Boden!
BeautyCounter Moisturizer: No, I’m not a consultant, but I’m really loving the products I’ve gotten so far. I had used Kiehl’s for forever, and was pretty happy until it stopped working. And my skin got all weird from pregnancy hormones. I got this about a month ago and love how lightweight but moisturizing it is too. Jenn at The Champagne Supernova is my consultant, and I’ll definitely be back. The Charcoal Mask is next on my list.
Furry throws and pillows: I guess this is what my life will be like when I’m the only female in the house, but I wanted some furry stuff for our couch despite the funny looks from Clint and Shep. Clint caved and I got this PB pillow and this Target throw and I’m in love. We watched Modern Family last night and I was all wrapped up and comfy.
Tortellini Minestrone: I love the Gimme Some Oven blog – her recipes are flavorful, fresh and the photography is bright and cheerful. I’m adding this recipe to our list for next week. It’s fall so that means it must be time for lots of soups (and that means leftovers!) I’m a big fan of that.
