Lately my blog posts have been really focused on giving tangible advice from my own point of view about finding balance in motherhood and career, and trying to help show it doesn’t always have to be black and white – either working mom or stay-at-home-mom. I love being able to share my own personal lessons on this blog about those topics to help other moms find balance and enjoy whatever season of motherhood they are in. Being a parent can be downright HARD, so while I offer advice on here, I also love my friends dearly for giving it and don’t ever want to come across like I’m a know-it-all. I definitely don’t know everything, and make lots of mistakes along the way, so anytime I can learn something either from another blogger or a personal friend, I’m so grateful. Thank YOU for your comments and support!
An Update on Our Move to Ohio
So while I’ll keep those kinds of posts coming, today I wanted to lighten things up a bit with just some general updates on our family and things we are loving now that the temperatures are warming up here in Ohio. Can you believe we have been here over 6 months already? I feel like we were always meant to live here in Columbus. The community is so warm, welcoming and kid-friendly. I’m definitely missing the convenience of having a personal pool and know we were already be hanging out there if we lived in Tampa, plus I miss lots of friends, but know that God brought us here and we were definitely meant to be here (how was this six months ago!)
Seeing My Parents
I love being able to see my parents more often. The boys totally love spending time with Gammie and Grandpa, and it’s awesome not having to worry too much about what to pack because we just started keeping things at their house now. I can drive up on a Thursday, spend Thursday and Friday, and drive back early Saturday morning. I also love seeing my good friend Holly (friend since 2nd grade) whenever we hop up there.
An Update on the Husband
Many of you have asked about Clint’s new job! He’s really doing so great, I’m so proud of his hard work and taking on this opportunity (he works in healthcare administration/network development). He travels within the state but not out of the state, so it’s been awesome having him home almost every night rather than the travel he did before. He always had terrible luck with flying at his last job, so it’s nice not having to deal with that headache anymore. Clint’s so ready for the weather to warm up so he can start golfing again. He played golf in college, and whenever he hasn’t golfed in awhile he gets a little grumpy 🙂
Let’s see – I’m a little tired of updating the house at this point if I’m honest. We are dying to renovate our master bathroom but it’s probably not happening until 2018. We are getting all new carpet upstairs this weekend and just moving everything to prep for that install was a big headache. I wouldn’t trade this house for anything, but we’re gonna sit tight and enjoy what we have through the rest of the year for now (but don’t hold me to that!)
Here are some of our favorite little things that brought us smiles this week for today’s Five on Friday!
Shep’s Spiderman Shoes: Look carefully – two of the toddlers have superman shoes on in this picture. After fighting “boy shoes” for as long as we could, Shep went with Clint this week to pick these out. They light up and he wants to show everyone he meets. Don’t worry, we also made him grab some preppy little Sperry’s too.
A Fresh Spring Hair Color: I finally got some light, ashy blonde highlights, just like I like them! I found an awesome hairdresser here in New Albany I love – if you are on the hunt I’m happy to pass along the recommendation. She kept me at a more natural color for the Fall and it was nice because I never felt like my roots got really severe, but with the change of seasons I was ready to be light and bright! Also – loving this magenta rice bead necklace. It definitely brightens up plain everyday t-shirts!
Spring Pillows: I didn’t want to switch out all my pillows, so I just added these and flipped out my heavy fleece throw and faux fur pillow covers. These Wheaton Stripe pillow covers are on sale now at PB for $26 plus they have a 20% off coupon today!
Reading Now: Love Warrior I’m reading this and not quite sure what to think. Her life is definitely fascinating, and I know she has quite the following right now, but whoa is it dark. I think it’s only fair I give a real review once I’m done. Have you read this one yet?
Watching Now: Big Little Lies: I’m a HUGE Reese Witherspoon fan, and find both her and Nicole Kidman incredible in this show. I watch little TV because it barely keeps my attention (and this drives Clint crazy!) but this show is awesome. The acting, the scenery, the dialogue, all keep me enthralled the entire time. I’m actually really happy I never read the book because I’m on edge trying to see what’s going to happen next.
That’s it for us! Have an awesome weekend and as always, thanks for reading!
