It’s FRIDAY! I know so many people who had kids head off to school this week and I can’t believe the school season has already started. If you need a good laugh, check out this video that made the rounds last year that is absolutely hilarious. I can so see this being me in a couple of years when Shep heads off to school.
We’re are looking forward to a weekend of soaking up some pool time (before it closes!), Goldfish Swim School classes and a date night with friends. Everyone raves about the patio at Lindey’s, so I’m looking forward to checking it out. That said, I had a blast with my friend yesterday at a party at the Lilly Pulitzer store and keep thinking about this dress I tried on. It was definitely a little sexier than most Lilly dresses, but I loved the side cutouts. I’m in a size small and it fit well. What do you think?
1/ Casual (late) summer days. It has taken me a long time, but I am getting comfortable with not making plans and doing casual outings with the boys. Maybe it’s because Shep has gotten better at playing by himself or with Beau, but we’ve had a few days lately where we don’t leave the house and it doesn’t drive me absolutely crazy. When push comes to shove, we head to the front driveway, go to the pool or just walk to the park. Shep also has been loving his new Strider bike. His friend got one and of course he wants to be just like the big kids. It may take him a little longer before he really gets the swing of it, but he loves gliding on the bike.
2/ National Lemonade Day at Charley’s Philly Steaks. I wanted to share with everyone that Charley’s Philly Steaks, based here in Columbus, is offering free Lemonade on August 20 for National Lemonade Day with the purchase of a regular size sandwich! One of my favorite indoor activities here in Columbus is taking the boys to Polaris to climb around on the massive animal-inspired play area (lots of Lysol wipes, too, of course!) and then heading over to Charley’s for lunch. Their kids menu is wonderful and they keep adding interesting and fresh lunch options I’ve been trying. Beau can’t do regular milk, so we almost always opt for lemonade when we are out at restaurants with him. Charley’s has the BEST lemonade!
3/ Black suede sandals. I hadn’t gotten new black shoes in forever and I found these Franco Sarto suede sandals (Nordstrom) when shopping with my mom. I love the chunky heel and they are super comfortable without being too tall (I just cannot rock 4-inch heels anymore, no matter how hard I try).
4/ Dinosaur backpack for Beau. I’ll share some information in a later post, but Beau is going to be heading to part-time daycare with his big brother Shep! I ordered him this adorable backpack (on a big sale now if you waited late like me!) since he’s such a dinosaur fan, and I am so, so excited for him to meet new friends and get some of his own school experiences, which have been nothing but positive for Shep. I can’t wait to share with you what’s ahead!
5/ The Identicals by Elin Hildebrand. This is the next book on my list! I’ve heard lots of good things about it and she’s one of my favorite authors so I’m excited to start reading. What’s on your reading list lately?
How has your week been?
