Happy Friday to you! I want to say thank you for all the new readers for stopping by this week — I am so glad you are here! We are in full-on Disney prep mode over here, leaving in just a few short days. I hope the weather is good for us, and most of all, that all my plans fall into order. We are staying on Disney property and heading to Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom based on the reviews my experienced Disney friends gave me. Other than that, it’s been a busy and fun week with the boys. I’m not going to lie though, I’m absolutely exhausted and hoping to find some time to relax a little during this weekend. That said, we are squeezing in a Toledo weekend to celebrate my friend’s son’s birthday and spend some time with Wendy and my parents.
Hope you enjoyed that random update – here are 5 of my favorites this week I had to share!
1/ Pizza Pie (Spaghetti Squash/Low-carb) My friend Amy shared this recipe with me, and normally I’m not one to love low-carb recipes (give me all the pasta!) but this one was amazing. Like I want to make it over and over again. This is the recipe I used via Holistically Engineered (plus I added black olives), but there are a lot of variations out there, some that use cheese and some that don’t for those following Whole30 or Paleo. What’s your favorite low-carb recipe? Now I’m ready to try more!
2/ Amazon swimsuit I posted this suit on my Instagram feed last week (sorry it’s so grainy) and I got lots of comments about it. For $19, I definitely recommend it. That said, prepare to get what you pay for. The lines on the ruffles are not seamed, but the top and bottom have great lining (even better than some expensive Jcrew suits I tried this season). It’s perfect for splashing with the boys in the pool and the bottom is roomy, so I’m a fan.
3/ Disney prep: You know those times when you are a little hesitant about taking advice from people? Disney does not fall into that category. I’ve been so thankful to all my friends for their advice on what we should do, what we should avoid and how to get the most out of our trip. I thought I’d share one of my favorite tips so far – Garden Grocer. My friend Maria said this has been a lifesaver for them. You order your groceries, and schedule delivery for when you are there. If you need perishables or want to pack lunches for the park, this is a lifesaver. I just placed our order and can’t wait to get Almond Milk for Beau delivered right to our doorstep.
I also made sure to get a diaper bag that’s more of a backpack style. I found this one from Laguna Tide that I knew Clint wouldn’t mind wearing either. There are insulated compartments and comes with a changing pad, so we’ll be good to go for the whole day. I’ll keep you posted how we like it (who knew diaper bags could be such a major purchase!?)
4/ Venting. It’s like lately my 3-year-old considers the answer “no” to be more of a suggestion than an answer. Anyone else? (And yes, follow the 21st Century SAHM for more LOLs)
5/ Hurricane Harvey: Ugh, my heart has broken for families affected by Hurricane Harvey. I can’t imagine what they must be going through. I’m thankful to be a part of a mom blog community that’s coming together for this community. Kristy at Seven Graces Blog did this great blog post which makes it easy to give back. Check it out if you feel compelled to help.
Lastly (so maybe this week is six!?) I had so much fun at Rockin’ Jump with the boys yesterday. I’m not going to lie, I was exhausted. Beau couldn’t contain his excitement to play with all the balls, and Shep loved practicing donkey kicks and his ninja kicks. We’ll be back this fall/winter for sure!
That’s it for this week. Hope you have a wonderful long weekend with your family!
