This Friday, I’m sharing the five things this week that made us happy. That simple – just some great happenings or things that brought a smile to one of the Borms’ faces. I’m linking up with some of my favorites:
This phrase has two meanings here: either the traditional farmer’s market, or farm markets, which are so plentiful here in central Ohio. There is fresh produce everywhere, it’s almost hard NOT to choose fresh produce. We’re enjoying Honeycrisp apples, fresh corn, homemade preserves and tomatoes. Fresh produce tends to be more inexpensive, tastes better, and I feel better knowing there aren’t as many pesticides used on them. I’d love to be showing you apple orchard picking pictures, but we were tight on time and didn’t make it there. We will in the next couple of weeks!
Watching certain toys transform to be “new” again for Beau is definitely a perk to having kids close in age (21 months apart). As I switch the toys based on the ages of the boys, I’m starting to see Beau enjoy the same ones that Shep did, and some in different ways. Right now he is loving this Munchkin Fresh Fruit Feeder. It’s absolutely disgusting and a pain to clean, but pure bliss for this teething baby. Poor guy is drooling all over the place, and occasionally has little yelps of pain (totally breaks my heart). I put some banana in here, put in the freezer for a couple of hours, and he’s as happy as can be.
Oh, glorious date nights. My mom was down so we snuck away for a couple of hours and it was perfect. We had cocktails while it was raining outside, this amazing cheese board (which I devoured) and then picked up pizza to share with my mom and the kiddos (well, just Shep). Those two hours totally reinvigorated me. Thanks mom!
Yes, I’m serious, we will be heading out for a vacation right after we’ve gotten settled in Ohio, crazy right. Clint arranged this vacation with friends from college months ago, and I am super excited to get some adult time and relax in the Florida sun (back we go!). I really enjoy the couple we are vacationing with and know we will have a blast. So while I’m searching high and low for fall clothes while I’m home, I’ll be packing up my warm weather gear again. We’re doing a Royal Caribbean Cruise that hits Key West and Bahamas, so I’ll be sure to pack my bug spray! I will definitely be packing this dress (now 40% off!), I loved it while I was in Cancun a couple of months ago.
I haven’t read a book for pleasure in forever. I’ve been reading Women in the Marketplace by Dotty Bollinger, one of my mentors and friends for a long time. It’s such a great read for women or mommas who are working in an office, on their own, or serving their families at home. Dotty reinforces the importance of answering your Kingdom calling, and in this season of a big career change for myself, where I’m navigating motherhood/freelancing and exploring new hobbies, it’s a good reminder to stay true to my Kingdom calling. You can get the book here. She also had another book coming out soon and I’ll share that with you next month.
Thanks again for reading – new blog design is on its way and I can’t wait to share it!
