This week we’ve gotten a taste of Spring weather and I’m hooked. I’ve been outside with the boys pretty consistently, especially after afternoon naps until dinnertime. It’s just too nice to be indoors.
I found this week to be really emotional for no major reason other than me just being the sensitive person that I am (or maybe it was this week’s episode of This Is Us).
Shepard got his third haircut, and like they always do, it made him look SO much older. My sweet boy is growing like a weed and I CAN’T STAND IT. I know everyone says to be proud of the boys they are growing to be, and I am, but it also makes me so sad to think about how fast it has gone with him. Beau is ONE and Shep is almost three, and I want to just freeze where we are. It’s a crazy, hectic time, but it’s so wonderful all the same.
I really wanted to do a Five for Friday blog post because there were a few random things that I had been excited to share with you all, but hadn’t had time to sit down and write about lately, so here goes.
1/ EatPakd. Many of you asked about EakPakd, which I posted in my Instagram this week. It’s a wonderful alternative for moms who feel super guilty about buying Lunchables (aka ME) but also desperately need something that is nutritious and gives you the same type of flexibility that they do when it comes to meal times. I find whether we are getting ready for the zoo, packing lunch for Shep’s day at school or just having a quick lunch at home after gymnastics, that these have totally simplified my life. The meal combos are incredibly creative, and they switch up weekly PLUS deliver right to your door. Some meal options this week were Hands Off My Nuggets (pictured) and Presto Pesto which I really liked (yes, I ate some too, delicious!). They always include a healthy dessert too, which is a great incentive for your kid to finish their dinner (and these always have hidden veggies so WIN-WIN!) Right now they are delivering in the midwest, be sure to stop on by to see if it’s something you’ll enjoy like we do!
2/ Safety First. Shep has been zooming everywhere on his scooter, so it was time to get him a proper helmet for safety reasons. I found this dinosaur helmet and I can’t wait to surprise him with it today! All his older buddies wear helmets and he wants to be just like them. I feel awful I was so late to the game to think about getting him one, but better late than never, right?
3/ Refreshing the wardrobe. Shep is in 4T these days! His legs are growing like crazy, so I ordered a bunch of staples from Old Navy and GapKids this week. They have sales almost everyday, and I saw today it’s 50% off jeans. I got these adorable red toddler skinny pants (which look a little more orange) for about $10 ($12.99 now on the site). The polo was about $5 after discounts. I love this little prepster!
4/ Tula Toddler Carrier. I made the splurge and bought a Tula carrier (again!). Beau looooves being carried but at 30 lbs my back (in my beloved Ergo) does not love it also. I have bought a Tula before and returned it, afraid I wouldn’t use it. So let me know – is it worth it? Do you like it? Does your toddler like the back carry?
5/ Hardware for the house. My next big project is switching out all of our beautiful brass doorknobs but I can’t decide if I should go with satin nickel or matte black. Most of the new lighting fixtures in our house are iron or aged gold, so I’m hesitant about silver but also love mixing metals and want something timeless for something like doorknobs. Which would you pick?
Have a wonderful weekend friends!
